new year resolutionNew Year, new you? With the start of a New Year comes with many New Year resolutions that people inevitably break by February. Did you know that only 8% follow through with their resolutions for the entire year?

Rather than making strict resolutions, create goals that you have for the year.

    1. Instead of picking a diet that you may only keep up with for a short amount of time…go with a healthy lifestyle change.

 

  • Make small changes in your meal choices that will ultimately making a big difference.

 

        1. Meal prep at the beginning of the week so you aren’t tempted to get unhealthy take out.
        2. Remember moderation is important.
        3. Fill your diet with all of the necessary food groups, i.e. fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and dairy.  

 

  • Getting more sleep!

 

        1. If you don’t already have a healthy sleep schedule, now is the time to fix that. It is incredibly important for your overall health and well being. Sleep deprivation can lead to numerous health problems, physically and mentally. Adults should aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep per night.
        2. You can always start out small changes; if you currently get 5 hours of sleep then steadily increase that number by an hour till you get up to 8 hours.

 

  • Keeping your body in motion!

 

      1. Go for walks once a day. You can go by yourself for some needed alone time or go with a friend or family member to get in some chats.
      2. Take the stairs when you can.
      3. Make your cleaning a vigorous activity.
      4. Park further away.
